Vintage Elkins Park PA YORKTOWN Movie Theater Artifact + Photo
This sale includes two items.
1) 8x10 framed photo of the Yorktown Theater, taken in around 1970 (printed in the last few years)
1) Art Deco metal artifact from the building....read on...
Located in Elkins Park in Montgomery County suburbs immediately north of Philadelphia,
the Yorktown Theatre was opened September 2, 1934, by 1941 it was operated by Warner Bros.
In 1963 the theater was sold, it then showed mostly art /foreign films, in the 1970s
the theater showed  X-Rated films. I believe it finally closed mid-1970s.
As the theater was being gutted to be torn down I rescued some of the artifacts that were
headed
to the dumpster.
This is the last piece I have left, it is an Art Deco light fixture end-cap.
