Vintage Dirigo Lifeboat Compass Gimbal Ring with Box Seattle WA USA. Features black crackle on the compass to resist corrosion.  The compass rotates to stay level when the box is moved.  The box has a lid that stays on with 2 hooks.
The box measures 5 3/4 inch square. The actual glass on the compass is 3 inches across.  Nice vintage item displays well.
